What Is Grüns
Grüns is a greens supplement you chew instead of chug: little green gummy bears, packed into individual daily servings you can tuck into a bag. The adult range comes in Low Sugar and Sugar-Free versions, while Grüns Kids uses a smaller serving for ages 2 to 13. Each original pouch contains 28 daily packs.
Regular one-time prices are about $67 for adult Low Sugar, $73 for adult Sugar-Free and $53 for Kids. There's also a subscription that ships 28 packs every four weeks. Grüns bills the gummies as daily nutrition, with vitamins, minerals, fiber and a blend of plant ingredients.
Here's where your HSA or FSA comes in: a provider can recommend those nutrients for a particular health condition. Our vitamins and supplements guide covers the rest of the shelf. Weighing gummies against a greens drink? Our AG1 eligibility page walks through that one.
Why Grüns Qualifies for HSA/FSA
Grüns qualifies when a medical practitioner recommends it for a specific health condition and documents that recommendation in a Letter of Medical Necessity. The letter is where your practitioner explains why Grüns belongs in your care.
IRS Publication 502 includes the “diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease” in medical expenses. Its Nutritional Supplements entry counts supplements as medical expenses when they are recommended by a medical practitioner as treatment for a specific medical condition diagnosed by a physician. Your LMN is that written recommendation.
Grüns lists vitamin D3 and dietary fiber among the adult formula's ingredients. Those two tie Grüns to health conditions a practitioner can document; here are some of the common ones:
- Vitamin D deficiency. Cleveland Clinic describes vitamin D supplementation as a way to get your vitamin D up to an adequate level and keep it there. An adult Grüns pack supplies 20 mcg (800 IU) of vitamin D3, at or above the daily amounts Cleveland Clinic lists for adults.
- Chronic constipation. NIDDK includes increasing fiber among ways to relieve constipation. The adult formula contains 6 g of dietary fiber per pack, toward the 22 to 34 grams a day NIDDK says adults should get.
- Osteoporosis. MedlinePlus describes vitamin D3 alongside calcium in osteoporosis care, helping the body use calcium from food or supplements. Adult Grüns supplies 800 IU of vitamin D3, the vitamin D side of that pairing.
Have a different health condition? If your practitioner recommends Grüns for it, Grüns qualifies for that one too.
How to Get Grüns Covered With a Letter of Medical Necessity
You have two ways to get a Letter of Medical Necessity for Grüns.
- Through Crates, typically in under 24 hours. The short online health assessment takes about 2 to 3 minutes to complete. After a licensed provider reviews it, you'll get a letter for Grüns if you qualify; it's valid for 12 months and renews each year.
- Through your own doctor, a few days to a few weeks. Book a visit, say you want to buy Grüns with HSA/FSA funds, and ask them to document how a greens supplement helps prevent, manage, or reverse your condition. Ask your doctor for the supplement recommendation in a signed and dated letter; you could owe a copay for that visit.
How to Buy Grüns With HSA/FSA Funds
Shop for Grüns wherever you like, then get your money back from your HSA or FSA.
- Get your Letter of Medical Necessity first. Pick either route above.
- Buy Grüns anywhere. Pay for your gummies with your personal card, whether you buy online or in store, and keep the itemized receipt showing the item and amount paid.
- Get your funds back. Choose Crates one-click reimbursement to have the claim filed for you, or upload the letter and receipt yourself. With an HSA, the letter and receipt go with your tax records.

Which Grüns Products Qualify
Adult or Kids, Grüns gummies qualify once an LMN documents their use for your health condition. Low Sugar or Sugar-Free makes no difference: both are supplements, so they qualify through your letter, as the IRS explains for supplements paid from an HSA or FSA.
| Grüns product | What it is | Regular one-time price | HSA/FSA eligibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult Original Low Sugar | Greens gummies with 6 g fiber and 8 g sugar per pack | $66.65 | Yes, with an LMN |
| Adult Original Sugar-Free | Greens gummies with 6 g fiber, sweetened with allulose | $73.32 | Yes, with an LMN |
| Kids Original, Low Sugar or Sugar-Free | Smaller servings for ages 2 to 13, with 4 g fiber per pack | $53.32 | Yes, with an LMN |
Regular prices checked on Grüns' U.S. site October 18, 2026. Each price is for 28 packs, before tax and shipping. Kids packs contain 9.9 mcg of vitamin D3, compared with 20 mcg in the adult formula.
Since Grüns is a daily habit, the pre-tax savings repeat with every pouch: paying with HSA/FSA money saves up to 30%. At a combined 30% tax rate, that $73.32 adult Sugar-Free pouch means $22.00 you don't pay in taxes, which makes your real cost $51.32 before sales tax and shipping. Your actual savings depend on your tax rates and how you fund the account.
