What Is Nectar
Nectar Sleep is the mattress-in-a-box brand with a white quilted top and a blue Nectar panel along the side. Its adult range comes in two constructions: memory foam, which uses foam throughout, and hybrid, which combines foam with individually wrapped coils. The same four family names appear across both: Classic, Premier, Luxe and Ultra. A queen runs from about $700 for the Classic Memory Foam to about $2,250 for the Ultra Hybrid.
Nectar markets the Classic around contouring support, then adds more cooling and cushioning through the Premier and Luxe lines. The Ultra adds a zoned support layer aimed at the shoulders, back and hips. Those features give you something concrete to discuss when a painful pressure point or an uncomfortable sleep position keeps waking you.
For HSA/FSA spending, connect that sleep setup to your health needs. Our broader mattress eligibility guide explains the category across brands; here, the focus is Nectar's products and the documentation for your purchase.
Why Nectar Qualifies for HSA/FSA
Nectar qualifies when a licensed provider connects the product to your condition in a Letter of Medical Necessity. That letter records the medical purpose: the support, cushioning or fit you need to help manage a specific health condition.
IRS Publication 502 includes the “diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease” in its definition of medical expenses. A licensed provider connects your Nectar mattress or pillow to your condition in your letter, and that is what makes it HSA/FSA eligible. Conditions to discuss include:
- Chronic low back pain. A 2026 systematic review of 47 studies found the evidence most consistently favored medium-firm mattresses over very firm or very soft surfaces for nonspecific low back pain. Your letter can describe the support and firmness your back needs.
- Chronic hip pain. Cleveland Clinic's sleep guidance recommends a firm mattress, with foam cushioning if needed, to distribute weight and keep painful joints aligned. Your provider can connect the mattress's support and pressure relief to your hip pain.
- Chronic neck pain. Mayo Clinic recommends keeping your head and neck aligned with your body during sleep and using a small supporting pillow. Pillow height and support are the features to discuss for this condition.
- Insomnia. A sleep surface that lets you get comfortable can be part of your insomnia care plan. MedlinePlus advises choosing a comfortable mattress, because a lumpy, overly soft or overly hard one makes settling into sleep difficult.
Which Nectar Mattresses Qualify
Nectar's adult memory foam and hybrid mattresses qualify with an LMN documenting their medical purpose. The letter connects your choice to your condition; the family name or price tier does not make one model more eligible than another.
| Nectar family | Adult mattress models | Queen price (memory foam / hybrid) | HSA/FSA eligibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic | Classic Memory Foam; Classic Hybrid | About $700 / $850 | Yes, with an LMN |
| Premier | Premier Memory Foam; Premier Hybrid | About $1,000 / $1,200 | Yes, with an LMN |
| Luxe | Luxe Memory Foam; Luxe Hybrid | About $1,400 / $1,650 | Yes, with an LMN |
| Ultra | Ultra Memory Foam; Ultra Hybrid | About $2,000 / $2,250 | Yes, with an LMN |
Model names and the queen prices Nectar charges checked on its U.S. site on October 18, 2026. Keep the exact model, size and amount you paid on your itemized receipt.
How to Get Nectar Covered With a Letter of Medical Necessity
You have two ways to get a Letter of Medical Necessity for your Nectar mattress or pillow.
- Through Crates, typically in under 24 hours. Answer the online health assessment's questions, which take 2 to 3 minutes. A licensed provider reviews it, and if you qualify, your letter is issued for your Nectar purchase. It lasts 12 months and renews each year.
- Through your own doctor, a few days to a few weeks. Book a visit and explain that you want to use HSA/FSA funds for your Nectar mattress or pillow. Ask your provider to document how a mattress or pillow helps prevent, manage, or reverse your condition. Have your doctor sign and date the letter. A copay may apply to the visit.
How to Buy Nectar With HSA/FSA Funds
Shop wherever you like for your Nectar mattress, then get your HSA/FSA funds back. You can compare the two accounts in our HSA vs. FSA guide.
- Get your Letter of Medical Necessity first. Go through Crates or your own doctor, as described above, before you buy your Nectar mattress or pillow.
- Buy the product anywhere. Whether you buy online or in store, use your personal card. Save the itemized receipt showing your mattress or pillow and the amount paid.
- Get your money back. Crates one-click reimbursement can file the claim for you, or you can upload the letter and receipt yourself. If the money comes out of your HSA, save both with your tax records.
